Albion defeated

22/ 8/2007

FOOTBALL: WILMSLOW Albion travelled to Bury to play an organised and talented Elton Vale side.

Vale just missed out on promotion last term, dropping out of the top two for the first time at the end of the season.

Both teams got off to a good start but, with both defences dominating, both goalkeepers were asked to do very little.

Elton Vale's Thomas Stubbs dribbled into the box and, with Rob Green and Kieran Raynes close by, Stubbs went down. The referee awarded Vale a penalty and Stubbs gave his side a 1-0 lead at the break.

A succession of Vale corners put Albion under pressure in the second half but Tom Hunt and Liam Brady defended very well.

Andy Aston and Tom Brookes tested Kenyon in the Vale goal but they couldn't force an equaliser and Albion went down 1-0.

This Saturday Wilmslow host Fives Athletic in a 2.30pm kick-off.
