Wilmslow lose to local rivals

5/ 3/2008

HOCKEY: WILMSLOW travelled the short distance to play local rivals Alderley Edge’s second team.

The visitors started the game sluggishly, whereas Edge flew out of the blocks and scored an early goal.

After finishing further chances and having the majority of possession, the home side were 4-0 up at half-time with Wilmslow facing an uphill battle.

However, the Oakwood Farm side regrouped at half-time and fought back well through two Matt Westbrook short corners to bring the score back to 4-2.

Wilmslow created further chances but couldn’t score the goals needed to bring them back on terms, Alderley then scored their fifth goal in the dying minutes to seal the match.
