Styal dream start ends in loss

STYAL had a dream start against Rylands Crossfields, Duncan Warrender scoring in the first 10 seconds.
But it went wrong for Styal after that. The home side struck with a 30-yard effort that gave Rick Harrison in Styal’s goal no chance.
The hosts struck again before half-time when a long through-ball had to be headed clear by the advancing Harrison and an opposition midfielder scored from 35 yards out.
In the second half, Styal attacked with little reward, hitting the bar twice, having a penalty claim turned down and a goal disallowed when a Styal player pushed a team mate.
The previous Tuesday, Styal went down 3-2 at home to Curzon Ashton Reserves.
Curzon took a 2-0 lead in the first half and killed the game with the third early in the second half.
After Brennan and Scarry were both dismissed, nine-men Styal pulled two goals back through Keith Maires and Warrender.
Styal’s reserve team enjoyed a 5-2 midweek victory over Denton Town but were beaten 3-1 at home to Daten on Saturday.
