Styal take title

STYAL FC have become the first team in 12 years to wrestle the Cheshire Football League title out of the mid-Cheshire area.
Barnton and Middlewich Town have dominated the league since the mid-90s but Styal are celebrating a memorable first championship after a second-half goal glut in their final match against Woodley gave them a 7-1 win and the title.
Needing a point from their final game, Styal were level at 1-1 after the first half but a Barnes hat-trick, along with goals from Graham (2), Thornton and Matthews saw them finish as 7-1 victors.
All at the Altrincham Road club are delighted at winning the main prize this season.
Styal had barely stopped celebrating the reserve teams’ league success, which was confirmed the previous week.
It’s a superb achievement by Lloyd Morrison and Steve Hardy who have built a team and club spirit that has seen the first and reserve teams glorious in tough leagues.
The lads received congratulations from all connected with the club, including the proud club sponsors, chartered accountants Elliott Goldman.
