Albion edged out

13/ 2/2008

WILMSLOW Albion lost 1-0 to second-placed Monton Amateurs last weekend at Oakwood Farm.

Wilmslow started the better side and had a number of very good chances to take the lead, Jenkins, Ifere, McGuire and Roberts spurning their opportunities.

Monton were limited to only a few chances in the first half but Albion keeper Horridge was up to the task and the half ended goal-less.

Albion’s best chance of the second half fell to Ault, who missed from close range before Monton scored the winner from a hopeful ball over the Albion defence for the Monton striker to latch onto and finish under Horridge.

Albion’s A team had a 4-2 victory over Fives Athletic with goals from Wolstenholme, McGowan (2) and Hampson.
