Albion share eight goals in a cracker

ON Saturday Wilmslow Albion faced Wythenshawe Town in a cracking local derby.

Albion started the brighter of the two teams with Jenkins, Neary and Ifere having great opportunities to open the scoring.

After 20 minutes a deflected shot from Jenkins looped over the Wythenshawe ‘keeper to give Albion a 1-0 lead, and they had some fantastic opportunites to extend their lead soon after.

But it was Wythenshawe who scored next when a looping cross was missed by Boley and their striker tapped in the equaliser.

Albion again created some fantastic chances to retake the lead when Smith broke clear down the right and centred for McGuire, but he shot just wide.

Town scored two quickfire goals to make the game 3-1 at half time.

Albion started the second half how they finished the first - creating more fantastic chances.

Midway through the half Albion got a goal back when captain Green smashed in a low free-kick which the ‘keeper could not get to.

Again Wilmslow piled on the pressure and they pulled level when Jenkins slotted home coolly from a Roberts through-ball.

Jenkins then netted again when he slotted in from a wide position and made the game 4-3 to Albion.

But unfortunately Albion could not keep the lead.

In the last 10 seconds Town grabbed a dubious equaliser after it appeared that Raynes was pushed by the goal scorer.

The game ended 4-4 and the result showed the battling spirits of the Wilmslow side.

This Saturday Albion are at home again at Oakwood Farm when they host West Didsbury [kick-off 2pm].
