Community commitment

16/ 1/2008

MACCLESFIELD Town’s new chairman has vowed to restore the club’s vital links with the community.

Former director Mike Rance has been named as the successor to Rob Bickerton, with Andy Scott as the vice-chairman.

And the new man in charge knows that, if the Silkmen are to move forward, then unity between the club and its fans is vital.

"If there is one thing that I would like to change, it’s to re-invigorate the community spirit that was there when we first got into the Football League.

"What I have seen over the years is that there has been a division between the official side of the club and the fans and shareholders.

"The club needs to be interactive with the supporters.

"By definition, lower league football matters so much to the fans. Everybody is committed to the cause and here we have a common passion for Macclesfield Town."
