Lancs struggle in Roses clash
14/ 8/2008
YORKSHIRE duo Anthony McGrath and Andrew Gale shared an unbeaten century partnership to put Lancashire on the back foot on the third day of the Roses clash at Old Trafford.
The duo put on 143 as Yorkshire went in at tea on 147-1, just 84 behind Lancashire's below par first innings total of 231.
Dominic Cork, with a point to prove after not being awarded a new contract next season, struck early with the ball, trapping Chris Taylor lbw with Yorkshire on just four. And he celebrated in the direction of the Lancashire committee in pavilion.
Resuming the day on 204-8, Steven Croft and Gary Keedy took their partnership to 66 before Croft was caught by Rana Naved-ul-Hasan off Adil Rashid for 68.
Sajid Mahmood followed two balls later, taking Rashid's figures to 5-95, restricting Lancashire to just one batting bonus point.
