DECISIVE stand: Javon Searles and Simon Wright took Crompton to victory at Middleton

CROMPTON went joint top of the Lake Garage CLL table with a six-wicket victory at Middleton.
Rain had reduced the match to 32 overs per side and saw the home team reach 116-7.
Despite slumping to 44-4 in reply, Crompton’s Simon Wright and Javon Searles put together an unbroken stand of 78 to give them victory.
There were also wins for Oldham and Werneth, although the news was not so good for Royton. Werneth held their nerve to inflict an 11-run defeat on Walsden despite being dismissed for 171 when batting first. Sri Lankan professional Loku proved to be the hero, taking 7-56 as Walsden capitulated to 160 all out.
Oldham were another team victorious by six wickets, winning at Littleborough in their case. The home side batted first and declared on 192-8, only for Oldham to reach their target with four wickets down thanks to Chinthaka Jayasinghe’s 82.
Royton lost by 71 runs at Clifton where the hosts made 186-4 before restricting Royton to 115-8 in reply.
