Miserable weekend for Wilmslow

WILMSLOW’S crucial relegation battle against Winsford was lost by a wider margin than the game reflected.
Wilmslow sent the visitors into bat and reduced them to 54-2. A third wicket stand of 76 gave Winsford impetus which was broken by two wickets in an over from Mark Green.
But with 15 overs left, Winsford had wickets in hand to play their shots freely but Harrison Lewis kept his impeccable line and length, picking up four wickets in his second spell to finish with six for 40. Chris Dillon picked up the final two wickets to give Wilmslow a target of 211.
Mike Harding and Sam Wildsmith put on 42 for the first wicket until Harding was adjudged LBW, which was then followed by an all-too familiar collapse, with only Wildsmith (37) showing any confidence.
Wilmslow’s second team played league leaders Stockport and, in reply to the hosts’ 238-5, were bowled out for 96. The third team completed the weekend’s misery with a 50-run defeat.
