Styal fight back to beat Trinity

STYAL’S fighting spirit came to the fore at Trinity as the Altrincham Road side turned a game round that looked a likely defeat.
On an atrocious wicket it was to Styal’s credit that they totalled 206.
Opener Steve Vose led the way with a belligerent 41, and Ben Hayes (35), Neil Barker (28), Mo Baig (26) and Chris Nolan (26 not out) all contributed.
Trinity’s batsmen, led by skipper Phil Lowe (70), were able to set out a good run chase.
He was supported well in partnerships that took trinity to within 40 of the Styal score with 10 overs left, but a crucial run out from Neil Barker changed the onus of the game.
Steve Shawcross was the pick of the Styal bowlers with a a stunning late spell. Ben Hayes was also tight and it was left to Barker to bowl an excellent last over as the home side fell short of the target and end on 203-8.
