LINDOW couldn’t find the performance to beat a strong Stretton side, going down in a five-wicket loss.
Lindow batted first and initially made good progress. They reached 77-2 before hitting serious trouble, Smith, Squires and Farmer going in quick succession as Lindow slipped to 90-5.
Slinn and Bracewell rebuilt the innings before youngster Taylor made an unbeaten 21 to take his side to a respectable declaration on 164-9.
Stretton had an action-packed start to their reply and their cavalier approach paid dividends.
Wayward balls were punished as Stretton raced to 35-2 in four overs.
Clissold made 45 and Mullins 30 as Lindow’s bowlers struggled to find a breakthrough. When Hughes removed Delaney, the visitors were on 117-5 and it seemed that Lindow may get back into the game but a lack of control with the ball was punished as Stretton’s Critchely and Garrod continued their attack, taking their side to the target with five wickets to spare in the 33rd over.
