Wayfarers fail to seal victory

WILMSLOW Wayfarers were left frustrated as Frodsham held out for the draw in a game they had dominated from ball one.
After posting 208 in a positive declaration giving the opposition six overs, Wayfarers fell two wickets short of what would have been an important victory.
Tom Matthews scored a magnificent 64 and Joel Unsworth had a fine all-round display striking a belligerent 40 and taking five for 46 with the ball.
Meanwhile, the seconds won against Disley to maintain their push for promotion.
James Bennett returned outstanding figures of five for 22 and Martin Hoban starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 36 to win the game.
On Sunday, the first XI lost at Appleton in the cup.
Batting first, Wayfarers were bowled out for just 134, thanks to contributions from Joel Unsworth (34), Bob Branagan (21) and James Bennett (21).
Appleton surpassed the total with a loss of five wickets, Stoll (53) and Hurst (48 not out) did the damage, while Bennett (two for 24), Joel Unsworth (one for 21) and Luke Unsworth (one for 22) were the pick of the Wayfarers bowlers.
