Wayfarers outclassed

WILMSLOW Wayfarers grafted but were second best to Woodford in their first game of the year.
Woodford chose to bowl first on a soft, damp track, and Wayfarers’ Matthews and Unsworth were out early.
At 14-2, the Wayfarers recovered to reach 51 when the first of seven LBW decisions came. Wayfarers were not scoring freely but reached 93-5 before Bennett’s 21 saw them to 111 all out.
Woodford’s openers then set about the task cautiously and scored slowly, despite hitting the ball in the middle of the bat.
The Wilmslow side bowled well but Unsworth and Baldwin were given too little to defend and, with Gilliatt making 38 not out and Elms 62 not out, Woodford reached 114 with nine wickets to spare.
