Lindow hold on for draw

LINDOW opened the new season with a fortunate draw at league newcomers Stockport.
Grover (three for 32) and debutant Armstrong (three for 35) restricted the home side to 23-2, but a stand of 87 between Facer and Beaver gave Stockport an initiative they never lost. A final return of 160-9 put the home side in a strong position.
In reply, three early identical dismissals to fast, full and straight bowling saw Foreman, Smith and Slinn quickly removed and, at 15-3 and then 42-5, it was a struggle for the visitors to make any impression on the game.
Squires (29) and Armstrong (11) took the score to 64, and Lindow survived the last 14 overs as Taylor, Hume and Grover blocked out the bowling to earn an unlikely draw.
