Christmas joy as twins arrive early

NEW mum Tiesha Powell received the ultimate Christmas gift this week after giving birth to two bouncing bundles of joy.

Weighing in at 4lb 12oz and 4lb 8oz, twin girls Millie and Ashley were born at 8.46am and 8.47am on Christmas Day morning.

The 18 year old student discovered she was expecting twins 12 weeks into her pregnancy and added: "It was a really big shock."

Born more than five weeks early, Tiesha's waters broke on Christmas Eve.

But it was more than 12 hours before the pair were eventually delivered by caesarean section at Macclesfield District General Hospital.

With her sister by her side during the birth, Tiesha said: "The birth was ok and I wasn't bothered by the pain because I knew the end result."

Tiesha of Colshaw Farm, explained that she chose the name Ashley for one of the newborns because she wasn't sure whether one of the twins was a boy or a girl.

Although she will have her hands full, Tiesha who has been studying childcare and education at college said she has lots of friends willing to help.

As for her new and life long Christmas gifts, she added: "They've been really good and haven't cried yet, I can't wait to get them home."
