WILMSLOW NORTH: Paul Whiteley (Con)

28/ 4/2008

PAUL moved to Wilmslow with his wife Joyce in 1980 and opened a hotel business which they operated successfully for 23 years.

Having previously served as a parish councillor, Paul became actively involved as a local Conservative and in many other aspects of local community life.

As well as serving as a school governor, he has been a committee member of the Riverside/Colshaw Estate management committee, a member of the Wilmslow Trust committee and a local Rotarian. He has been a borough councillor since 1998 and was Mayor of Macclesfield in 2005/06.

Paul said he would like to be elected because the new council is a challenge he would like to engage in.

He said: "It must provide good local services at reasonable cost and the interests of local people in Wilmslow North must be safeguarded.

"I believe we must make our streets cleaner and safer and improve road maintenance, including pavements and grass verges, problem areas like anti-social behaviour and fly tipping must be dealt with more effectively."
