A FUN filled day guiding residents through the history of Wilmslow marked this year’s Heritage Open Weekend.

Crowds flocked to events at St Bartholomew’s Church, Quarry Bank Mill, Styal and Dean Row Chapel to soak up some culture and delve into the rich traditions of Wilmslow’s past.

Each of the events were free and open for the public to look around for one day only and at St Bart’s they pulled out all the stops to ensure an enjoyable day.

Teddy parachute jumps, Punch and Judy shows and music and refreshments kept young and old alike entertained as historian and academic, Birgitta Hoffman, guided groups on fascinating tours around the church.

The alternative ecclesiastical life of Wilmslow was also on display at Dean Row as the Unitarian Chapel welcomed guests to look around the barn style church and the grave of Samuel Greg of Styal Mill.

And at Styal Mill itself, the Apprentice House welcomed visitors to have a go at traditional chores and explore the life of a young mill hand in a bygone era.
