Tesco has its sights set on new store in village
by Betty Anderson23/ 4/2008
LEADING supermarket chain Tesco confirmed it hopes to open a "convenience" store on London Road, Alderley Edge, next year.
The firm plans to rent a unit in the new development on the former Westbrook site at the corner with Clifton Street.
I think Tescos will be the ruination of Alderley Edge. Not only will it create more parking misery but it will sap the life blood from every other retail outlet. The few shops that are left in Alderley already struggle and this would be the final nail in the coffin. I hope Alderley can do as Poynton has just done and put paid to this retail monster.
