What Sir Nicholas didn’t mention about the threats
Vic Barlow26/ 7/2006
SO, MACCLESFIELD MP Sir Nick Winterton has been upsetting the establishment again with his demand for immigrants who flout the law to be deported.
He believes the threat of terrorism is too great to ignore. Well, from where I stand, I'm more afraid of the establishment than I am of the terrorists.
So far they've dragged us into an illegal war, annihilated thousands of innocent civilians in the search for Weapons of Mass Destruction that didn't actually exist and left our troops stranded in a cauldron of hatred.
Whilst the Thatcher years may have been autocratic and the Major administration indecisive it's the monumental incompetence of the current government that terrifies me. Having antagonised the entire Islamic world and repeatedly warned UK citizens they are fighting a 'war on terror' the Home Office say they have no idea how many illegal immigrants are in the country, where they are or what they might be doing (but they do know there's a lot of them).
When illegal immigrants are apprehended they are often turned loose and asked to report themselves to the immigration authorities. On a return trip from Hong Kong I found not one single officer on duty in Heathrow customs hall enabling anyone to walk through with whatever they chose to smuggle.
In the town of Slough the official influx of immigrants was reported as 300 while the number of new National Insurance cards issued in the same period was over 9,000. No-one knows why?
Convicted murderers who should have been deported are released onto our streets and have disappeared without a trace. Fanatics who preach hate and violence to impressionable young minds have been tolerated without a whimper and all during a 'war on terror'.
What frightens me most is not just terrorism but the next momentous blunder by a clueless administration leading us all blindly into armageddon.
Of course any debate on the subject will be stifled and those who persist accused of playing the 'racist' card. Once again Sir Nick has been ostracised by the establishment for expressing his concerns but... so was Winston Churchill.
