MACCLESFIELD Borough has been well blessed in the mayor department having had a succession of excellent office holders.

My heartiest congratulations now go to Wilmslow councillor Jim Crockatt.

I can't think of a more deserving mayor.

Coun Crockatt has represented Dean Row with distinction for over 18 years and commences his Mayoral year with a vow to save the Evans Theatre and Alderley Festival Hall.

I hope both he and his good lady wife enjoy a wonderful year.
