Criminals must plan heists to suit police

I SHOULD have known. No sooner had I said the best chance we had of Cheshire Police attending a raid would be if it was held at Macclesfield Police Station than the chief constable told us he didn't expect any officers to be in Macclesfield Police Station.

Now, I know some of these criminal gangs are very obliging and if Cheshire Police would care to advise them of their whereabouts I'm sure they could arrange a convenient robbery.

Obviously the 24-hour notice Cheshire Police had of the raid on the Knutsford jeweller was insufficient so the raiders need to book well in advance, preferably not a rest day or bank holiday but officers must not let them down.

If the criminals go to the trouble of arranging an armed robbery to suit police itineraries, shift patterns, sick days, etc the least the constabulary can do is make an appearance.

I don't expect bobbies to run 150 yards; the distance from Macc Police Station to Chestergate (scene of the last raid) or anything ridiculous like that but I do insist they show up.

Maybe officers and villains can exchange mobile phone numbers so they can co-ordinate their time of arrival, but please remember criminals have families too. They can't hang around all day waiting to be nicked.

Sorry I have only just found this but I just had to wet myself at this. There is no Major Daniel Boothby in any area of Macclesfield. Are these people wearing rose tinted spectacles where everything in the garden is all right. Please face reality. If you were on the wrong end of these incidents you would change you tune. Basically you need to grow up and stop playing silly games. Vic is quite right to point out these failings. And we should thank him for doing so.

I really must remonstrate with Mr Barlow's recalcitrant attitude to the local constabulary. Once again Mr Barlow has chosen the easy target with another overly sarcastic prose. I can fully understand that, as senior citizen of this community, Mr Barlow is valetudinary when it comes to issues of personal safety. But Mr Barlow has to realise that the gentlemen and ladies who are serving in Cheshire Police are extremely hard working and dedicated to their jobs. I wager some days these fine officers wish they could swap places with you Mr Barlow and experience life on Easy (Target) Street.
