Our lot have a lot to learn from Obama

THE MORE I learn of Barack Obama, the more impressed I become. Hitting out at absentee black fathers, Mr Obama said parents need to ‘teach our sons to treat women with respect and to realise responsibility does not end at conception’.

"What makes a man", said Mr Obama, "is not the ability to have a child, but to raise one".

I know of no British politician with such courage. I know plenty, like David Cameron, who will jump on the bandwagon after they measure the reaction, but none with the guts to go out on a limb as Mr Obama did.

Far from making his remarks to a white middle class audience, Mr Obama was addressing the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People.

Some Democrats said Mr Obama was risking a breach with his black political base on the issue of parental responsibility, but the largely black crowd in Cincinnati gave him a standing ovation. Maybe they recognised true leadership? Makes our lily-livered, politically correct, issue-dodging politicians look like snivelling wimps don’t you think? After the dodgy Clintons and inept Bush administration, America needs a President of stature and integrity. I suspect Barack Obama may be their man.

So please tell us the results of the 'objective scientific study' into the effects of single parent families on crime and educational achievement - and furthermore, please tell us the source of this research. Your whole argument has been based on this!
