Who's going to remove junk?
26/ 3/2008
THE rules surrounding the disposal of waste at Macclesfield Borough Council tips become increasingly complex.
I can understand large commercial vehicles needing special arrangements when the tip is running out of capacity but MBC appears to have gone from the sublime to the ridiculous. Quite apart from the people of Wilmslow having no tip whatsoever, MBC continues to restrict the type of waste they are willing to handle.
Agree with Big Vic on this one.

Is it really so hard to actually check the facts?
A simple telephone call this morning, to the Danes Moss tip - (01625) 421290 - reveals that fridges and freezers ARE still being accepted at that site, along with many other bulky items of this kind.
Go ahead... give them a call. Find out for yourself.

Vic is spot on here, this kind of dumping whilst deplorable is to be expected.
Services get withdrawn yet council costs rise, it isn't just, the council will end up clearing this type of mess up countless times.

Fridges and freezers no longer accepted. Take away the facility and human nature will find a way around things. In this case the deplorable habit of dumping rubbish in the country lances.
These disposal facilities were originally commenced to prevent this very thing from happening.

Why is it always local government's fault? What about personal responsibility?
Since someone managed to get them to the roadside, these items could easily have been taken to the tip. Therefore the only person to blame for this junk is the person who left it there.
The tip at Danes Moss is a Cheshire County Council facility. According to their web site, "[A]ll sites also accept the following materials: Books; Small and Large Domestic Electrical Appliances; Fridges & Freezers; Televisions & VCR's; Fluorescent Tubes; Bric a Brac (general [reusable] items)".
Regardless of the predicted future capacity issues, the tip is still open, and still accepting such items.

This is the inevitable result of Government and Local Authority policies - But they are too short sighted to see it.
