Cyrano de Bergerac (Royal Exchange)

BY ANGELA KELLY
24/11/2006

AN entertaining tale of the French 17th century poet, swordsman and would-be lover with ambitions as big as his enormous nose.

Cyrano de Bergerac is the funny, big-hearted and charismatic eponymous character central to this much-loved drama by Edmond Rostand, translated and adapted by Anthony Burgess and directed by Greg Hersov.

Ben Keaton - best-known as recovering alcoholic porter Spencer in TV's Casualty - brings his Irish charm to the enjoyable main role in a play that offers some rather different Christmas theatrical entertainment.
