Marti Pellow
26/10/2006
YOU don't need a smug Guilty Pleasures revisionist to tell you
exactly how good Wet Wet Wet were in their heyday - but that was
over 15 years ago and the lingering associations now are that
annoying Love Is All Around song, and singer Marti Pellow's sad
decline into heroin addiction.
To his credit, Pellow hasn't acted like he has anything to prove to
anyone.
Having cleaned up and gotten off the drugs, his career has been
surprising and diverse.
In 2002 , he hooked up with Chris Difford of Squeeze and went solo,
followed it up with a West End role in the musical Chicago.
Credibility has finally arrived with the iminent release of a solo
album, Moonlight Over Memphis. Recorded with legendary soul
producer Willie Mitchell.
This gig is billed as a "greatest hits" show, so expect some Wet
Wet Wet classics as well as the new incarnation of Pellow, soul
man.
