LEGENDARY "Mr Smooth" Johnny Mathis returns to the North West tomorrow (Saturday) for a rare appearance at the MEN Arena that is bound to delight fans.

His UK tour - his first in the country for 10 years - celebrates his 50th anniversary as a recording artist. And Johnny (above) is still making top-selling records. His current album, The Very Best Of Johnny Mathis, features hits like When A Child Is Born, Misty, Fly Me To The Moon and Too Much Too Little Too Late, and there is no doubt some or all of these will feature in his show.

During a glittering career, this enduring favourite - who began his singing career as a 19-year-old student in the early Fifties - has notched up a series of milestones, including being the first recording artist to have a Greatest Hits album, in 1958.
