A Bit About . . . Cole Page
paul r taylor8/ 9/2006
Crooner Cole Page is singing at the Proms In The Park at Heaton Park on Saturday.
The first thing I do when I wake up is ...
ask my wife if she's awake. Go to the toilet, then the bathroom to
wash my hands and face and clean my teeth, then check on the
children.
Ideally I would spend every day ...
making music and spending time with my wife and children.
If money was no object I would ...
record my own album of new songs, tour and travel the world.
The greatest gift I ever received was ...
the ability to sing and my children, Taylor and Mason.
My one piece of advice would be ...
to follow your dreams and never stop pursuing your goals. If it's
in your heart, you'll do it well. Believe in yourself.
My first job was ...
a printer, (I still have the habit of smelling the ink on a freshly
printed piece of paper to see which travelling agent was used in
the ink).
I'm scared of ...
heights, terrified actually and I'm rather claustrophobic
too.
I'm excited by ...
performing to a full theatre. The buzz is wonderful when you are
waiting in the wings for your introduction and when you walk out,
the band, the lights, the adrenaline; it's such a rush. Wow. Also,
witnessing my children's progression.
If I could go back in time and do one thing again it would be ...
re-live the birth of my children and re-live every second of my
first theatre show, and hold my father again and tell him I love
him.
I love ...
optimism, good food and wine, my family, music of course, lazy days
in the house with my wife and kids, watching TV, sport and
travelling.
I hate ...
trouble and confrontation.
I want ...
me and my family to live a happy, healthy and successful
life.
You have to read ...
Bill Bryson's A Short History of Nearly Everything.
Everyone should listen to ...
Pat Matheny, Steely Dan and Cole Page of course!
You must watch ...
Stir Crazy, The Green Mile, The Woman in Red, Liar Liar, Hitch, or
anything with Tom Hanks, Will Smith, Mel Brooks, Gene Wilder or
Richard Prior in it.
If I could be anyone else I would be ...
my son.
My ultimate ambition would be ...
to tour the world performing.
My biggest inspiration has been ...
my father's death.
The first time I fell in love ...
I got my heart broke (I was 18) and she left me for another guy
(how cruel).
I think God is ...
not sure about this one, read the Bill Bryson book.
I think the death penalty is ...
appropriate for people who have intentionally committed murder (an
eye for an eye). My father used to say: "They should bring back the
birch."
My epitaph would be ...
"Keep your face toward the sunshine and the shadows will fall
behind."
