A Bit About... Justin Moorhouse
paul r taylor24/ 6/2006
Stand-up comic Justin Moorhouse, a former City Life Comedian of
the Year, he is perhaps best known as young Kenny in Phoenix
Nights. But he is now a success in his own right, with a show on
radio's Key 103. Manchester-born Justin began his comedy career at
29, after realising there was more to life than sales. He has
appeared in numerous TV shows, written for The 11 O'clock Show, had
his first play commissioned by Radio 4 and been in panto. But his
stand-up routine is most in demand. Catch it at The Lowry in
Salford on Sunday (June 25)
The first thing I do when I wake up is
hear the baby crying, look at the clock and think: "you can't want
to get up now".
Ideally I would spend every day
writing my fifth novel/film/sitcom on my balcony in some hot
country.
If money was no object I would
buy clean undies for every day.
The greatest gift I ever received was
it's obvious to say your children, but I did get a brilliant red
Grifter for Christmas when I was 14.
My one piece of advice would be
have a go. Life is too short to think I might have been able to do
that. You'll never know unless you have a go.
My first job was
a shipping clerk.
I'm scared of
dying on stage.
I'm excited by
my baby daughter, who does something new daily.
If I could go back in time and do one thing again it would be
work harder at school and perhaps go to university, just to see how
I'd have turned out.
I love
the current potential Mrs Moorhouse.
I hate
ignorance, intolerance and the ITV crime drama Rosemary And
Thyme.
I want
to be able to play my PSP (portable Playstation) in public and not
look stupid.
You have to read
anything except the Daily Mail.
Everyone should listen to
my show on Key 103 every afternoon and Richard Pryor CDs in the car
(but not on the way to a comedy gig - you'll only be disappointed
at the performances you've paid to see).
You must watch
everything you've got on Sky+ before it crashes (I lost every
episode of My Name is Earl I'd been saving for a rainy day).
If I could be anyone else I would be
Jesus, so I could come down for the day and put the record straight
- one way or another.
My ultimate ambition would be
to be happy and not cause misery.
My biggest inspiration has been
Les Dawson.
The first time I fell in love
I felt sick.
I think God is
omnipresent yet elusive.
I think the death penalty is
abhorrent.
My epitaph would be
Here Lies Justin Moorhouse. He was a good bloke who died at
134.
