COMEDY: Lee Evans, MEN Arena, Wed 12 to Sun 16 Nov
Angela Kelly5/11/2008
MANIC funnyman Lee Evans makes a welcome return to Manchester next week – two years after his last stand-up tour.
His five-day stint at the MEN Arena crowns a fantastically successful 59-venue tour going over three months and emphasising the pulling power of arguably Britain’s best-known comedian.
Evans rose to fame during the 1990s with his loud, energetic and sweaty stage performances, humorous voices and physical observational comedy.
Many have likened him to the Norman Wisdom/Michael Crawford school of slapstick comedy acting, but Evans has made the genre his own.
In 1993, he won the Perrier Comedy Award for his work at the Edinburgh Festival and has made numerous TV appearances as well as being in films. But it is his stage shows that remain his trademark, and no doubt his many north west fans will not want to miss this special occasion.
