COMEDY: Frankie Boyle, Lowry, Sun 2 Nov

Angela Kelly
29/10/2008

MOCK The Week star Frankie Boyle brings his brand of sardonic humour to The Lowry on Sunday.

The 36-year-old Glaswegian is a regular member of the popular BBC2 programme and this latest tour proves he has a huge individual following.

He began his stand-up routines in student unions while taking a teacher training course in Edinburgh aged 23 and left to pursue comedy full time.

Boyle began performing at various festivals around the country and in 1996 won the Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award. In 2006, his stand-up show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival won acclaim and last year he appeared in Rush Hour, a comedy show on BBC Three.

He has also been appearing on the show When Were We Funniest? on UKTV Gold, but it is Mock the Week that has ensured he is now a household name.
