MUSICAL: The eXtra Factor, Opera House, Thursday, Sept 25 to Saturday, Sept 27
Angela Kelly17/ 9/2008
A NEW comedy musical revolving around reality TV is heading for Manchester.
The eXtra Factor takes an ironic and funny look at reality shows, featuring six talented performers locked away in a house, desperate for fame, fortune and stardom.
The cast includes Manchester’s own chart topper Anthony Kavanagh, who re-emerged recently in TV’s popular Grease is the Word competition to find leads for the enduring pop musical. He joins ex-Coronation Street favourite Kevin Kennedy, ex-Blue band member Antony Costa, Kelle Bryan from Eternal, Russ Spencer from Eurovision pop group Scooch, Jennifer Biddall from Hollyoaks and Suzanne Carley, who has appeared in Blood Brothers and Grease.
Apart from the comedy antics in the living quarters, the live singing action takes place in a TV studio as the wannabe pop stars fight for their 15 minutes of fame. From the house to the studio and back again, this fast-paced production keeps the audience laughing and guessing until the final moments.
Like the reality format itself, the ultimate winner will be decided each night by the audience – via text message voting.
