THE walking tour will take in locations like the famous Salford Lads Club
WALK: Walkabout, Ordsall, Sunday 10 Aug
Angela Kelly6/ 8/2008
ENJOY an alternative tourist tour through Ordsall next week.
In the latest phase of The Lowry’s community outreach programme, local residents have created Walkabout.
This involves double-decker buses which take the public to visit film screenings, photography exhibitions and contemporary dance performances, to reflect the diversity of the places, people and history of this part of Salford.
It’s a chance to highlight venues and buildings that are important to the people of Ordsall.
Contemporary street dance at Salford Lads Club will welcome visitors to the start of the tour, with photos of the area taken by children, and installations include banners and a photography exhibition created by the congregation of St Clement’s Church. Ordsall Park will be decorated with large flower planters incorporating statements and images, and homeless centre Salford Loaves and Fishes will present a film about homelessness.
To catch a free bus, check for times and departures on www.thelowry.com/projects/walkabout.html.
